June 2013 MFPA meets Minister of Education The Malta Federation of Professional Associations Executive Council recently met with the Minister of Education, Hon. Evarist Bartolo, at the Professional Centre. During this fruitful meeting, a number of issues relating to professionals were discussed, with the Minister proposing that such meetings be held on a regular basis. Following a brief introduction to the Federation, legislation related to the delivery of professional services was discussed. The Malta Federation of Professional Associations (MFPA yesterday organised its third in a series of talks directed to the general public at their premises. The topic was Osteoporosis: Prevention of Osteoporosis through exercise. The talk was delivered by Ms. Ariane Calleja from the Society of Medical Radiographers (SRM) and a Senior Radiographer at the Medical Imaging department at Mater Dei Hospital Malta. After working for sometime in the bone density department, she conducted a research study during the last year on the imprtance of exercise for the prevention of osteoporosis. The MFPA organised a talk on Ethics in Professions: an option or need? This was held on Friday 18th October 2013 at 7.30pm at the Federation’s Professional Center in Gzira. This talk focused on professional ethics towards clients and colleagues. The speaker, Rev. Prof. Jose’ Angel Lombo. who is a Professor of Ethics and Moral Philosophy at the prestigious Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome, came purposely to Malta for this event. The Malta Federation of Professional Associations will be holding a public talk entitled ‘Physiotherapy and Disease Protection’ on Thursday 14th November 2013 at 6:30pm at the Professional Centre in Gzira. The talk will be delivered by Mr Karl Spiteri a state registered physiotherapist. The talk will focus on non-Communicable diseases (NCDs), also known as chronic diseases, are the most common cause of mortality in developed countries. Malta Federation of Professional Associations elects New Council During an EGM of the Malta Federation of Professional Associations held on 8th March 2011. Ing Helga Pizzuto was elected President of the MFPA. Ing Pizzuto currently holds the position of Chief Technology Officer with the Malta Communications Authority. Prior to this position, she has held a number of senior posts within the local electronics manufacturing and telecommunications industries. Launch of the Professional Card in Malta by the Federation of Professional Associations The Hon Chris Said, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Dialogue and Information within the Office of the Prime Minister congratulated the Malta Federation of Professional Association for being in the forefront in the field of Professionals by issuing the professional card.
