Benjamin Rizzo elected president of MFPA – 19/11/2013

The Malta Federation of Professional Associations (MFPA) is pleased to announce that it has elected Ben Rizzo as President. In his address during the MFPA’s forty third Annual General Meeting held last Monday 18th November at the Federation Premises, Mr. Rizzo stated that the Federation aims to strengthen its public profile for the benefit of the professions, by continuing to build positive relationships with the authorities, through representation in public fora such as the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development and meetings with political leaders. The Federation also aims to increase its presence through various new communication platforms, including a new website. During the Annual General Meeting, Mr. Rizzo also referred to the key activities that will be carried out during his presidency over the next year, which include the Federation’s input towards the Continuous Professional Development and the organisation of both public and interprofessional seminars.
The remaining elected officials are Vice-Presidents, Ms Maryanne Ciappara (Malta Chamber of Pharmacists), and Ing. Helga Pizzuto ( Chamber of Engineers), Honorary Secretary, Ms Gertrude Buttigieg (Association of Speech-Language Pathologists), and Honorary Treasurer, Perit Alfred Briffa (Kamra tal Periti).

The Malta Federation of Professional Associations (MFPA) was set up in 1971 by seven founding organisations. Throughout the years, the professional population in Malta increased. Today MFPA comprises 17 professional organisations as full members and other three organisations with partial membership, representing no less than 10,000 professionals in Malta.
