AGM 30
th
September 2008
Council members thank you for your input.
I would also like to thank Marcelle for her constant updating me on the various topics that affect the Federation and her initiatives that have proved very fruitful to the Federation.
I would also like to thank all member organisations that have supported the Federation till today.
I really wish that your support will continue.
I want to have a look at the year that passed and what we achieved together.
I think we have achieved some important targets.
1. Reestablished our position at National MCESD Level. Meetings with various political leaders, the Archbishop and the Rector.
2. Introduced ADSL and email connectivity within the Federation premises.
3. Strengthened our financial position.
4. Taken the decision to improve the four board rooms upstairs.
There were some targets that I had set myself to reach that were not even breached. I hope that next year we achieve targets that we set ourselves.
I would like that the council will discuss during the first meeting after the AGM a list of targets that we would like to achieve. The second council meeting will evaluate these targets in financial terms and reassess the priorities.
I would like to inform you that two new organisations will be signing agreements to use our premises and become user of premises users from next year, these are:
a. The Small Practitioners Association of Accountants (SPA)
b. The Airline Pilots Association (ALPA).
The main points that I would like the Council to discuss and arrive to an agreement within the first 3 meetings are:
1. Discuss the membership issue in total new dimension.
2. Improve our financial position.
I would like that the Federation has a better dialogue with all member organisations and perhaps the time is ripe to form subcommittees to follow topics that are being discussed in Malta and at EU level.
Perhaps we have to have committees led by Council members with members from the different member organisations ( not council members).
I thank you for your time and efforts and hope that these will be strengthen next year
.
Ben Rizzo
President
